Our Community - FRA 290

Community is defined as a unified body of individuals, a group of people with common characteristics, history, or social, economic, and political interests. This definition describes the Fleet Reserve Association in general and FRA 290 in particular. This begins by our involvement and support of our Sea Services community – The Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. We believe in the adage that charity begins at home. Our first focus is to aid in building strong and vibrant Sea Services.

However, for all of us who have put on the uniform of our Country and served in its military enjoy a unique bond. As such our second focus is on the general Veterans community and supporting all our Military personnel. We are active participants in the Beaches Veterans community, cooperating with such organizations as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Our last focus is on our own local community. This encompasses the three Jacksonville Beaches communities of Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and Jacksonville Beach. This also extends to the greater Jacksonville Metro area as well. We are involved in many charitable and social activities in our area throughout the year.

Another part of our community is FRA Club 290. Club 290 provides members and guests with opportunities for social, fraternal, and recreational activities.
